Traditional Series- Welsh Cob

Shaped by the country’s natural meadows, moors and mountains over many centuries, Britain’s native breeds – hardy ponies, sleek Thoroughbreds and powerful draughts – are renowned worldwide for their intelligence, toughness and conformation.

The Welsh Pony and Cob originated in the rough terrain of Wales, and over generations developed into four sections: Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A), Welsh Pony (Section B), Welsh Pony of Cob Type (Section C), and Welsh Cob (Section D). The largest of the sections, the sturdy Welsh Cob was used for farm work, transportation, and by the military.

Strong and agile, these well-build horses stand a minimum of 13.2h. The Welsh Pony and Cob Society describe them as “the best ride and drive animal in the World.” They have achieved international acclaim in the driving world, and are also talented hunters.
