Description
Pelicans are a type of large water bird best known for their enormous beaks and the large throat pouch that they use for catching prey and draining water before swallowing. There are many different species of pelican, and they can be found on every continent except for Antarctica.
Scientific Name: Genus Pelecanus
Characteristics: Like all Safari figurines, this pelican model was crafted and painted by hand for life-like realism. Pelicans have quite an appetite, and will eat almost anything including fish, amphibians, turtles, crustaceans, and sometimes even other birds!
Size and Color: While there are subtle differences between the different pelican species, on the whole they are predominantly white with shades of black along the neck and wings. 2.75 inches long and 2.3 inches tall, our pelican figurine is a touch smaller than a deck of cards stood on its side.
