Having experienced rapid growth over the past couple of years, Teton Toys is excited to announce a renewed focus on our community, social, and environmental impacts.
We’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to learn and grow from the BEST Certification Sustainability Program. While we aren’t yet BEST certified, the process has provided both a fresh perspective on our environmental and community impacts as well as an opportunity to learn from the amazing things happening in other businesses in our community!
Here are some of the things we’ve done so far to become a more sustainable business:
- All locations maintain a recycling program, and the Jackson location monitors its waste stream. We are enthusiastic that our waste diversion rate has increased an average of 7.5% and that we’ve had a 10% decrease in total trash output since we began recording in 2020.
- We track the miles traveled by Jackson employees coming to and from work and offset the impact of those miles by funding carbon offset programs.
- The Jackson location also has a “Get to Work” incentive program that rewards staff who carpool, bus, walk, or bike to work.
- We purchase Green Energy from Lower Valley Energy to ensure that our minimal power needs are supplied with sustainable energy.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for us, and we will keep you posted on our challenges, and successes through our newsletter, social media and from our in-store staff! We look forward to the next steps, notably expanding these programs to Utah, and we welcome any input as we move forward in this process.
